This edition was first published in 2000, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Fergusson's birth, and has been through several reprints. Fergusson was a brilliant poet writing in Scots and English, acknowledged by Robert Burns as a primary influence: Burns referred to him as 'my elder brother in misfortune, by far my elder brother in the Muse.'
